The COVID-19 pandemic brought with it many impacts on a global scale, both to people and businesses everywhere. In particular, the pandemic was the catalyst that forced many social issues into public discourse raising the importance and strategic imperative for organizations to understand and address the greater rubric of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG). The key to creating adoption of ESG measures is simplicity. Your leadership team, starting with the board of directors, needs to clearly understand what is being done to meet ESG standards and to gain comfort in discussing your organization’s targets and actions to external stakeholders. Approaching ESG is not about volume, it is about value.

We will discuss Internal Audit’s role in being a change agent and key priorities it should consider in evaluating an ESG program and framework.
