Amit is currently the Vice President, Internal Audit at OpenText Corporation, a global leader in enterprise information management solutions and Canada’s largest software company. The Organization comprises of 14,500 employees and operates in 35 countries.
In his current role Amit is responsible for the Organization’s global internal audit and risk management function. Prior to being appointed to his current role in September 2020, Amit served as the Head of Internal Audit and Enterprise Compliance at Cenovus Energy, one of Canada’s largest integrated energy companies. Amit brings a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the design and effectiveness of governance, risk management and controls.
Amit was born and raised in India and obtained his Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) from the University of Delhi. In addition to his CA designation, he has also earned both his CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) and CISA (Certified Information System Auditor) designations. Amit began his professional career at KPMG in India and Dubai. He subsequently joined Ernst & Young in Calgary, working in senior managerial roles before joining Cenovus.
Amit has spoken at conferences on topics spanning audit, compliance, and risk, and has been a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Sub-Committee for Thought Leadership. He has also served as a member of the Board and Finance Committee at the Calgary Drop-in Centre, one of Canada’s largest homeless shelters.
