Hendry, Shawn

 Shawn has 25 years of Audit experience in both public practice and industry. Shawn joined FortisAlberta in March 2021 as their Director of Internal Audit from CP Rail where he was the Director of Operations Audit. Prior to joining CP, Shawn was a Director, Internal Audit and Risk Consulting with KPMG following bringing his team and clients from Focal Point Canada (previously known as Sunera) where he was the Managing Partner of their Canadian practice. Shawn was also with KPMG in their Advisory Services Practice in Victoria prior to Focal Point. Over his 15 years with KPMG and Focal Point/Sunera, Shawn assisted many organizations with their Internal Audit, Enterprise Risk Management and risk initiatives.

Prior to KPMG/Focal Point, Shawn was the Chief Audit Executive for CanWest Global Communications where he was responsible for developing and building the Internal Audit and Risk function, leading compliance requirements for the Sarbanes Oxley Act and implementing an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework.

Earlier in his career, Shawn started the Internal Audit Department for UtiliCorp Networks Canada after spending his early years with an accounting firm.

Shawn has been a presenter at the IIA Canada National Conference (2017-2019), and many other events over his career and acted as a track coordinator for the 2020 conference. Shawn has unique experience in that he has worked as both a consultant and as a CAE. This provides him with a very unique perspective bringing methodology and practical application of risk together.
